The Great Central Main Line:
A Photographic Record Of Its Remains Today
by Tony Carlyon

A detailed photographic record of what remains of the former route from London Marylebone to Manchester Central, as it appears today.

Actually commencing at Aylesbury, this website is very much a labour of love, and will probably always remain a work in progress. As long as some part of the former route is in a state of change somewhere, this site will never be “finished” as such, but for me, that’s all part of the appeal. I hope that long after I’ve gone, someone to whom I’ve entrusted the task, will be able to carry it on. At present the site is far from comprehensive - there are huge gaps, but I hope that people will enjoy not just its present content, but being able to follow it as it “fills up,” grows and develops.

All photos were taken by myself except where stated, and all of them I have placed in the public domain. I’d rather try to spread the word than impose mountains of copyright restrictions. You are free to use them elsewhere as and when you choose, though please credit them if possible - it is only being courteous after all.
